Glossop, United Kingdom Derbyshire County Council Full time

St Luke’s Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint inspirational and forward-thinking teachers.

Although it is difficult to sum up in a few words what makes our school special and unique – getting to know the children as individuals and their families is definitely one of the key principles held by our dedicated, exceptional staff team who work together to create a family feel. Our strong ‘child centred’ ethos and culture guarantees you a warm, friendly welcome at St Luke’s.

We pride ourselves on providing a caring, happy and loving environment for young children to learn, thrive and flourish. Embedded across the school is our mission- Opening eyes, hearts and minds. This mission shapes our direction, decisions and curriculum. We are an inclusive school; we value, nurture and support each and every child. There are times when people need something different - whether that is additional support or challenge to achieve and succeed - in understanding that equality does not mean treating every child in the same way we are able to personalise our approach for children who have a Special Educational Need and/or Disabilities and those that do not. Equally important to providing a safe, happy & caring environment is providing a quality curriculum where children have the time and space to develop through quality teaching and access to a broad range of opportunities and experiences.

Our curriculum includes a broad range of enrichment and social opportunities that children experience, learn from and enjoy. We make the most of the world around us spending time in our Forest school area, our extensive playgrounds and fields and the surrounding areas of the Peak District. Children take part in a range of different activities over the year and the pleasure and development of new skills and confidence is rapid - our evidence has shown that outdoor learning is also a fantastic boost to well-being and mental health.

Our new teacher will:

Be passionate about teaching and learning. Care deeply about children and their development whilst still driving forward pupil progress and achievement. Be active in support of the Christian ethos of the school. Have a tenacious approach to safeguarding; ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our young people. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build on and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents and carers, children, governors and the local and wider community. Offer all children equal access to all aspects of school life; where individual differences are appreciated, celebrated, understood and accepted; Encourage children to become good citizens holding British values, by developing caring attitudes, tolerance and respect towards themselves, other children, adults, their school and their community.

In return we can offer you:

Children who are rewarding to teach, eager to learn and who thrive on success, nurture and positive relationships A collaborative and highly motivated staff who have strong relationships with pupils, parents and the local community; who work hard to make St Luke’s the success it is A friendly, welcoming and supportive community who are immensely proud of their school; A commitment to continued professional development; A supportive and active Governing Body; A friendly working environment which supports and enhances our vision and ethos.

The Governors of St Luke’s are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare any cautions, convictions, reprimands and final warnings that are not protected ( that are not filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020).
