Your role and responsibilities
assessment and inspection for transient licences (materials on the highway, skips, scaffolds, banners etc) and permanent licences (benches, traffic calming gateways, signboards etc) assessment of vehicle access applications against the relevant design and planning criteria, followed by the supervision of their construction to ensure we minimise any future liability for their maintenance assessment and inspection for pavement licences for tables and chairs, within the highway, working closely with Borough and District Councils assessment and inspection of utility street furniture (eg Broadband cabinets) ensuring they meet the Code of Practice for Cabinet Siting assessment and inspection of applications for Developer Signing, Event Signing, Tourist Signing, Speed Indicator Devices (SID), Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS), Access Protection Markings (APM) and Advisory Disabled Parking Bays (ADPB) assist the wider team, as required, to carry out inspections relating to enforcement activities, educate and/or negotiate with customers and follow processes to support enforcement activities to a satisfactory outcome liaising with the customers and working closely with the Highways Licensing Officers to ensure the efficient, effective delivery and management of this service.You will need
a high level of autonomy during the normal day to day working around the county and carrying out various site visits and inspections good knowledge and experience in the application of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 experience and ability to provide comprehensive advice to a range of customer enquiries and advise on works knowledge, experience and ability to work safely on live carriageways.You can view a full list of requirements in the If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. We are a small, friendly team which comprises of both Highway Licensing Officers and Highway Licensing Inspectors. The Highway Licensing Team forms part of the wider Highway Regulation team, consisting of 30 colleagues, and we work together to support each other and provide the best service possible for both internal and external partners.
