This is a unique opportunity to join the Business Support Team, who support The Quality Assurance, Reviewing & Safeguarding Service (QARSS), as a Senior Service Support Officer on a full time, permanent basis.

The role is here to support the continual growth of QARSS. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Chair for Child in Care and Service Manager for QARSS, looking at any changes and/or improvements required by Practice for Business Support.

They will also work cohesively with the Service Support Manager to support with changes to work process and the day-to-day workings of the Business Support team.

This will be a demanding role, working to tight timescales often led by statuary reporting plus having to often work to your own initiative and be forward thinking; anticipating problems and future planning. 

You will need to manage expectations of the Chairs and the team by looking at current workforce/processes Vs what is required.

A good working knowledge of QARSS and its Business Support processes would be beneficial, though full training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.

There may be some line management responsibility.

You will be required to attend meetings, both virtually and in person across the Devon sites – this will range from meetings with the Chairs and senior service managers to meetings with the Business Support teams.

As an agile worker, you'll work both from your office base at County Hall and at home.

You will be included in the Recruitment and Selection Processes for Business Support staff – you will also be very involved with new staff inductions as well as mentoring and team training/improvements.

You will work very closely with the corresponding E grade post - there will be a cross in relation to the organisation of CP meetings/changes. You will work together to form a strong cohesion between both teams.

You will constantly be reviewing processes to streamline and improve our service.

The Senior Service Support Officer for CiC will be required to work within the CiC Co-Ordination Team to cover Service Support Officer absences plus support the team to achieve expected results (working within timescales, managing expectations of workload).

The ideal candidate will possess:

A demonstrated desire for learning/development opportunities which have arisen A good working knowledge for Child in Care a good understanding of Child in Care Business Support Process Feel confident in offering training and mentoring to new staff in our area of business Able to demonstrate how you manage a full workload and maintain timescales and standards Happy to negotiate and think outside the box for solving problems (usually around staffing levels vs workload) A real team ethos – bridging the gap between both Practice and the two Business Support Teams within QARSS. Line management experience
