Clerk of Works (Building) - PKC

The Building Clerk of Works role involves the site inspection of construction works on a diverse range of Capital and Revenue funded projects and on a range of council non- domestic properties.

The post holder will expect to be involved in several major projects and smaller planned projects at any one time and required to attend sites for inspection meetings on a regular basis.

All new council buildings are being constructed to a low carbon standard ("Passivehaus") with challenging design and construction processes to manage.

For purposes of connection and collaboration with colleagues and with the community we serve, our full-time employees work on site for a minimum of 2 days per week with the arrangements for part time employees being agreed on a basis which will ensure that they benefit to an equivalent degree. Requirements

The post holder should have a depth of knowledge in construction detailing, processes and materials and be able to problem solve at site level to assist the design team in delivering a quality finish.

Experience of site based inspection and reporting in a clear and concise manner is essential.

A knowledge of low carbon design, materials and processes will be desirable but not essential this includes retrofit and refurbishment projects to an "Enerphit" standard or equal.

The post holder must have the ability to communicate effectively with project team members at all levels and be understanding of a wide range of views.

You will be educated in an appropriate built environment discipline and/or trained to a minimum City and Guilds or SVQ Level 3 or above in an appropriate building trade and having an ONC/OND or other vocational qualification in a building construction related discipline. 

Regular and relevant training will be available to the postholder.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

The Individual

Interviews will be confirmed with candidates who have the necessary skills knowledge and experience and meet the requirements of the post and will be held in person in Pullar House in Perth.
