Introduction

The Select Committee Engagement Team supports select committees by increasing public understanding of, and engagement with, select committees. We want people to know what select committees are, how they can contribute to their work and to feel valued when they do so. Although you will be working for the House of Commons, the Engagement Team supports select committees in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.�

Job description

The Role

You will manage the Select Committees Engagement Team�s work with people and communities across the United Kingdom to increase public understanding of, and engagement with select committees.

You will do this by operationally managing a programme of activities and engagement events around the UK for people to informally input into select committee inquiries. You will manage at least one Senior Engagement Officer.

This is a job share, working closely with another Select Committee Engagement Manager who is already in role. You will work closely together to lead a team of three Senior Engagement Officers, one Engagement Support Officer, �and a busy programme of engagement activities.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

� � �Develop a strong relationship with your co-manager to effectively manage the team and its work.
� � �Lead the Select Committee Engagement Team�s work to deliver a programme of activities around the UK people to informally input into select committee inquiries.
� � �Lead the Select Committee Engagement Team to ensure work streams are successfully delivered on time and within budget.
� � �Develop project plans and strategies for expanding the reach and impact of the team.
� � �Successfully and proactively lead stakeholder management with often complex stakeholder groups, including Members of both Houses, select committee staff teams and communications staff.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Experience of leading activities to engage a range of audiences, including marginalised groups, always maintaining impartiality, and upholding the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Experience of delivering programmes and projects in a complex and/or political environment, within budget and to tight deadlines. Experience of planning and prioritising work, identifying risks, and evaluating outcomes.

Proven persuasion and stakeholder management skills with experience of building and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders while effectively influencing senior colleagues.

People management skills ideally with experience of setting realistic objectives, monitoring performance, giving feedback, and supporting development. Or can demonstrate the ability to develop these skills.
