Duties

The Furniture Mover (Warehouse Worker) is responsible for the safe handling, moving, storage, and inventory of furniture, appliances and other large items. The position is part of the General Services Office (GSO) of the Embassy’s Management section and reports to the Warehouse Team Leader. Job holder is responsible for:



Moving and installing heavy furniture from the warehouse to residences occupied by US personnel, often up and down narrow stairwells with multiple flights of stairs. Residences are located throughout Greater London.
Loading and unloading of furniture, appliances, etc. from trucks/vans to the warehouse.
Assisting in organizing, preparing and delivering items from the warehouse to office buildings, residential properties, and other locations as required.
Operating forklifts, trolleys and other electrical or mechanical equipment to safely move and transport heavy items.
Packing, unpacking and delivering of welcome kits containing housing supplies to be used by newly arrived US personnel as directed by the supervisor.
Assisting with annual inventory ensuring that all items are stored properly to prevent theft, safety or fire hazards.

Note: This position is based in  Hendon at the Embassy Warehouse. 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in manual labor or warehouse work is required.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge of written & spoken English is required ( this may be tested )
