The Liaison and Diversion service is a multi-disciplinary team operating across West Yorkshire. They work with vulnerable adults and young people who come into contact with the criminal justice system, with the aim of diverting individuals away from crime and into health, social care or other support organisations.

As a Support Time Recovery Worker, you will work as part of a team, screening people within police custody suites, identifying and offering support to those with complex needs that might be having a negative impact on their health and wellbeing. You will work within a team and hold a caseload, providing time limited support and a sign posting service connecting those identified to the appropriate community service.

We are looking for a full-time permanent Worker in Wakefield who holds a professional qualification, minimum NVQ Level 3, in a related field eg. social care, health, education, police, probation, youth work or with extensive experience of working with people with complex needs, or of working in the criminal justice system. You will have experience of undertaking direct work with vulnerable adults or children, offenders and their families and have knowledge of the services available as well as experience and the ability to liaise and build partnerships with other staff and agencies.

You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and be able to handle competing demands by effective self-management, self-motivation and prioritisation, whilst working with other agencies to ensure that people who offend or at risk of offending have their individual needs met. A good standard of computer and IT literacy and the ability to maintain information records through a fully electronic case management system is essential.

The successful candidate will need an element of flexibility around working hours as some weekend work will be required as part of a rota system . It is essential that you have a driving licence with access to a vehicle  in order to travel around the District and transport service users. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check at level 3 and police vetting is also a requirement of the post.
