A Registrar is sought to ensure the Registration Service is delivered in accordance with the statutory directives from the Registrar General for Scotland. You will provide a professional, efficient and empathetic frontline service whilst working closely with other Council Services and external partners and agencies. You will be part of the Comhairle’s Customer Service Team responsible for delivering a high-quality service across a wide range of service areas.


Duties will include: registering births, still-births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships; conducting Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership ceremonies in Registration Offices and at other locations throughout the Comhairle area; assisting with the pre-ceremony administration and performance of Citizenship ceremonies; and producing accurate reproductions of certificates of events registered in Scotland.


You must demonstrate a caring, sympathetic and compassionate approach to service users. Experience of administration, record keeping and handling telephone calls in an office environment is essential as well as a qualification in standard grade English and Mathematics or equivalent.


A Full UK driving license with access to car is essential.


Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
