The Software Engineering Team within DAT provide a wealth of expertise and experience within the world of software development and computer sciences, focussing on the handling, interrogation, and exploitation of sensitive risking and intelligence data to underpin our customers� insight and understanding of the strategic intelligence picture.�

Job description

Join our team and be part of an organization that is dedicated to making a positive impact. As a Lead Developer within the RIS Analysis DAT Software Engineering Team, you will be responsible for building internal web-based solutions tailored to the needs of our intelligence customers.�

The work will take the form of targeted development aimed at solving a particular problem such as the processing of, and interaction with, large data sets, as well as structuring and working with unstructured or sensitive data, safeguarding the security needs of the business.�

You will combine APIs (C#, .Net, REST, GraphQL) and clients (Angular, HTML, JavaScript, CSS) with Structured Query Language (SQL) and MongoDb databases, using continuous integration (Pipelines, Unit Testing) and peer review to deliver solutions that are secure and robust.

Essential Criteria

You will need to have previous experience as a Lead Developer or a similar role in the Information Technology industry.�

You will also need to be:�

A subject matter expert in .NET and Angular.�A full stack developer, used to working on frontend, API/Webservice and database applications (SQL and MongoDb).�Proficient at implementing software development patterns and standards such as Dependency Injection, REST, SOLID, MVC, and OIDC.�Experienced in supporting and mentoring junior developers.�Proficient at implementing and checking code quality including the use of unit testing, peer reviews, WCAG accessibility standards and code analysis.�

You will also need to have or obtain . You will need to meet the minimum UK residency period as determined by the level of security vetting being undertaken, which for SC is 5 years UK residency prior to your vetting application.�

Desirable Criteria

It would also be desirable for you to have:�

Experience in IIS, AWS (or similar) hosting environments.Experience leading agile software development teams.�An understanding of data security, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how data is used to support HMRC compliance activity.The ability to work flexibly and adapt to ever changing priorities.�

Alongside your salary of �54,439, HM Revenue and Customs contributes �14,698 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

HMRC operates both Flexible and Hybrid Working policies, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments. We welcome applications from those who need to work a more flexible arrangement and will agree to requests where possible, considering our operational and customer service needs.�
