Catering/Event Supervisor
Location:Winlaton Mill, Gateshead
Salary:£11.60 per hour
Hours:25 hours per week. You will be employed on a flexible contract and will be expected to work additional hours. These flexible hours will be agreed by your manager, with a minimum of 24 hours notice given prior to any additional hours being worked.
About the Employer
Our client is a charity operating across the North East & Cumbria region to mobilise practical community action on poverty and the environment. The Land of Oak & Iron, hosted by this organisation, has delivered over £5 million investment in local communities, their natural, cultural and industrial heritage.
Completed in 2018 the Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre is set within the beautiful Derwent Valley with an abundance of natural woodland and rare wildlife. It covers a 177km2 area in the Derwent Valley making it one of the North Easts most rewarding and exciting area's to explore. At the heart of the Land of Oak & Iron is the Heritage Centre, from there people enjoy a variety of events, creative workshops, guided walks & talks. Youll find the Cafe located in the Heritage Centre, with fresh seasonal ingredients and produce have been locally sourced wherever possible to showcase what the north east region has to offer.
About the role
Working with a small friendly team, you will be expected to be involved with the day-to-day running of catering services, overseeing staff to ensure standards are consistently met, and driving achievement of the highest levels of visitor satisfaction, as well as supervising in the smooth running of events.
The role requires a positive and flexible approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced customer environment. Their café operates daily from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, with occasional evenings, offering a great work/life balance for catering professionals.

About you
They are seeking someone who is outgoing and enthusiastic, with proven experience of customer service in a fast paced catering environment. Having supervisory skills is essential as well as being an excellent communicator who is open, honest and acts with integrity. You will be flexible and willing to tackle any task or role assigned to you with a positive attitude.
With a passion for food and delivering an excellent service, you will also have knowledge of food safety and health and safety principles.
