The Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System (SNEE ICS) Intelligence Function is seeking a passionate data analyst to lead a 12-month programme focused on early cancer diagnosis. In this role, you’ll play a key part in using data analytics to make a positive impact on the lives of those living with or at risk of developing cancer.

This opportunity includes 6 months working with the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) Advanced Analytics Team.

This post is funded by the SNEE Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Your role and responsibilities  

The SNEE ICS Intelligence Function has been commissioned by the ICB to deliver this programme of data analytics to support the ICS’s Cancer Transformation Programme, by providing insights to enable earlier diagnosis. You will focus on: 

Understanding population needs for cancer services and predicting the benefits of interventions. Improving understanding of cancer risk and supporting early diagnosis. Identifying relationships between service performance and patient outcomes. Partnering with external organisations to enhance cancer data analysis capabilities.

To achieve these objectives, you will: 

Combine existing business intelligence with population health data to pinpoint areas with high demand and at-risk populations. Undertake descriptive analysis and explore the potential of predictive analytics to prioritise referrals likely to be positive diagnoses. Work with ESNEFT data scientists to analyse performance across tumour sites and integrate health equity data to address disparities. Leverage our access to SNEE-wide population health data to build partnerships for better service delivery. Provide dedicated ad hoc analysis support to the cancer programme.

You will need

Experience and technical expertise in advanced analytical techniques, including advanced statistical modelling and/or machine learning approaches for predictive analytics. A strong understanding of statistics and data manipulation skills. To be motivated by using data to solve problems and improve healthcare. The ability to apply analytical expertise to the SNEE ICS. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders.

About the SNEE Intelligence Function 

The SNEE ICS has a diverse and talented analytical community, modern data and analytics technology, and engaged stakeholders. A key part of this analytical community is the new SNEE Intelligence Function. This is an analytical collaborative, with representatives from organisations across health and care organisations who work together to provide actionable insights from data that links information on health, care and the wider determinants of health. Suffolk County Council is hosting the ‘hub’ team of Intelligence Function analysts on behalf of the SNEE ICS and is working with ICS partners to use new data and insights to support the improvement of health outcomes and the reduction of health inequalities.
