This key role in IASC will be line managed by the Principal Social Worker and will also work closely with the Service Manager for the Devon Safeguarding Adults Service and professional practice colleagues, who support the work of the Torbay and Devon Safeguarding Adults Partnership. This means you will be offered excellent support and supervision, with regular opportunities to discuss and reflect on your practice, both with your line manager and peers.

This role will involve:

Providing expert professional, technical and practice advice to staff. Analysing relevant safeguarding data in order to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Advise and on occasion lead safeguarding situations where there is the highest level of risk and complexity. Reviewing the quality of practice through agreed audit tools. Support with the design, development and review of the learning and development programme with regard to safeguarding adults duties. Shaping and contributing to the development of the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and Modern Slavery response. Supporting the organisation in reviewing the Serious Incident process. Lead on the safeguarding aspects of regulation reporting, case tracking and preparing for CQC.
 

About you:
You must be a registered Social Worker, Nurse or Occupational Therapist with a real passion for safeguarding practice. You will need an extensive knowledge of the legislation. This is in the context of developing Case Law and interactions with other statutory frameworks The Human Rights Act and Care Act.

You will have experience of managing people and a proven ability to drive / effect change. You will be able to use ‘coaching’ type skills in supporting staff to develop their practice.

You will need to demonstrate good communication across all mediums (electronic, written, verbal) with an ability to take account of the audience that is receiving the information. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
