About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Architecture Services within Group Technology, the Enterprise Architect (EA) - Back Office, is accountable for architecting the technology capability of applications underpinning the Distribution, Finance, HR and Property areas within the business.

You will engage with strategic and operational business leaders to rapidly gain a deep understanding of the business' goals and objectives across Distribution, Finance, HR and Property areas. They will use this insight to define an implementable technology plan and architecture, appropriately balancing cost, functionality, viability and flexibility, to create optimum value for the business. This role is responsible for defining both the technology plans and the conceptual and logical target architectures and roadmaps. It is also ultimately accountable for assuring the designs that implement these into production.

In addition to core business priorities, the EA - Back Office must also consider the broader technology factors (e.g. data, security and integration) when shaping a target and transition roadmap. This will require a highly collaborative style with a range of business and technology colleagues, to ensure a seamless and integrated capability is delivered.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with key business and technology stakeholders at both an operational and strategic level to understand and derive their technology needs in the medium to long term, specifically relating to Distribution, Finance, HR and Property applications and capabilities.
  • Lead the definition of the Distribution, Finance, HR and Property target architecture and transition roadmap, aligned to a broader Enterprise Architecture and corporate strategy and plans. Assess the financial and technical impact of change and agree an architecture investment strategy to accelerate the journey from current to target architecture.
  • Lead the definition of architecture models for the Distribution, Finance, HR and Property domains, including as-is, to-be and transition state architecture models.
  • Lead and facilitate the development of technology strategy for the Distribution, Finance, HR and Property domains, including the development of roadmaps and plans for executing these. These will take into account internal and external factors and consider the commercial and change factors, as well as technology.
  • Lead and facilitate the creation of domain-specific Architecture Principles to guide solution decision making.
  • Participate in, and use, Governance forums to ensure that architecture standards are adhered to, strategic plans and objectives are met, and roadmaps are realised effectively.
  • Manage technical debt as relevant to the Distribution, Finance, HR and Property domains.
  • Continually analyse the current business and technology environment, in respect of Distribution, Finance, HR and Property, in cooperation with key users (business and technical) of the ERP and Fulfilment architecture, to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Engage key business stakeholders to identify and recommend business and technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable and drive business strategy. Focuses on growing revenue, improving agility, optimising costs, and mitigating risks.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
