School Support Assistant (Home Economics)

Hours: 33 per week (Monday - Friday),39 weeks sessional

Leith Academy is looking for a part time sessional School Support Assistant to work collaboratively as a member of the Home Economics team.

The post holder will assist in a range of tasks relating to support for learning and teaching, the care and welfare of pupils, plus the administration and organisation of resources. They will be responsible for purchasing and preparing food and equipment for cooking classes as well as setting up and clearing away at the end of lessons.

The successful candidate must have a good basic education and provide evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills. They should work well under pressure and have very strong time-management skills. In addition, food handling experience, along with operating computer packages and general office skills are desirable.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
