Come and work at the heart of the Council and be involved in supporting the County Elections This is an exciting opportunity to join Democratic Services on a temporary 12 month contract. As the Elections Research Project Officer you will be working to support the Business and Projects Manager and the County Returning Officer. You will be working with senior officers, Councillors, District Councils and the public.

About us/the role

We pride ourselves on providing an effective and efficient modern governance service.

The County Elections take place every 4 years. You will provide a vital role in the successful delivery of the election process by providing up to date and accurate reports and briefs which enable managers and councillors to fulfil their various roles and responsibilities. 

Under the direction of the Returning Officer (RO) and Line Manager, manage the project plans for the elections process, holding people to account for their deliverables. 

You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment, providing regular and accurate data, information or advice to managers and councillors through undertaking research on relevant topics and producing written reports. 

You will be required to liaise with colleagues across the council departments to ensure useful intelligence on topics is shared appropriately and councillors are kept informed about the impact, both potential and actual, of the elections process.

About you/Skills and Experience

To be considered for this post you will need to demonstrate that you have experience of delivering high quality pieces of work or projects to strict deadlines, experience of writing detailed reports, policies and plans and producing quality research and reports on a range of topics. You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of political structures and decision making in the County Council and demonstrate good analytical skills to understand and use data and intelligence to build an accurate picture and sound evidence base for decision making.
