We are seeking a highly skilled, driven individual to work in the Aberdeen Justice Social Work Service. Reporting to the Chief Officer for Adult Social Work, you must have extensive senior management experience within justice or the public protection arena. justice Social Work is a diverse, complex and busy service which has mostly statutory involvement with individuals who have offended, many of whom have complex needs, multiple disadvantages with some presenting a risk to themselves and others. The service functions within a rich strategic environment that includes the ACHSCP Strategic Plan, the Community Planning Local Outcome Improvement Plan and the National Strategy for Community Justice. There are a significant number of legislative obligations that the service is expected to fulfil as it discharges its duties as well as adhering to professional justice-specific National Outcomes and Standards. This role is designed to provide strategic leadership and support to the Justice Social Work Service. A key element of the post will be driving improvements in the experiences and outcomes for individuals within the Justice System. As such, the postholder will oversee the justice improvement portfolio as outlined in the Service Delivery Plan and undertake appropriate performance management activities to demonstrate the effectiveness of the service. In addition, informed advice and support about all aspects of the service will be provided to both senior management and decision-making/governance bodies related to Justice Social Work and its implications for community safety/public protection. The Strategic Service Manager will have a responsibility for liaising with the MAPPA Co-Ordinator and other agency representatives to ensure that the justice service contribution to MAPPA discussions and decisions is timely, appropriate and risk informed. The Strategic Manager will also ensure that any actions required of the service are completed to the expected standard of quality and thoroughness.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• Educated to degree level in Social Work or a relevant discipline and/or extensive
experience in senior management/strategy in a related field.

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Ability to lead, manage and participate in work as directed by operational and strategic
leads across the Health and Social Care Partnership.
Ability to use a range of methods of communication to report, engage, influence and
gain support in order to improve the delivery of strategic and risk management
priorities.
An understanding of the relationship between policy development at national and local
level
Ability to develop strategy, policy, procedure and standards
Ability to analyse and present management information and business intelligence
Ability to identify priority outcomes, develop action plans and monitor performance and impact on both service delivery and outcomes for adults
Ability to initiate, develop and then deliver projects which involve multiple internal and
external stakeholders.
Ability to identify and raise relevant issues with senior staff in Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership and with other partners
