As a Barclays Investment Banking Lawyer, you will provide senior legal support as part of the Investment Banking Legal team serving the EMEA region with a particular focus on our M&A and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) businesses. This will entail providing legal and regulatory assistance on a variety of transactional and non-transactional matters. Partnering with the coverage and origination, product, execution and syndicate teams you will help to enable delivery of consistently excellent investment banking services to clients of Barclays.

What will you be doing?
• Providing legal and regulatory advice on M&A and/or ECM transactions and general investment banking matters
• Reviewing and advising on legal documentation, ranging from early-stage contracts such as engagement letters, to primary transaction documents
• Instructing and managing external counsel, building effective relationships
• Maintaining know-how and precedents; assisting with the production of standard forms, practice notes and policy/guidance
• Inputting on regulatory advice and firm-wide projects, working with different areas of the bank
• Commenting on regulatory consultations and answering any regulatory enquiries
• Following relevant legal and regulatory developments to keep the bank at the fore-front
• Arranging and/or delivering training and updates to the legal team and business

What we're looking for:
• Qualified lawyer in UK or other common law jurisdiction (other jurisdictions may be considered too)
• Corporate/M&A and/or ECM experience gained in private practice and/or in-house at a financial institution
• Excellent social and communication skills, with an ability to share knowledge pro-actively
• Previous experience working effectively in a fast-paced, complex and multi-dimensional environment

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Some knowledge and competence of investment banking or other financial services experience

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
