We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Council delivery of arts and museums services and be the lead officer for delivery of our Cultural Strategy -. You should be educated to Degree Level / SCQF Level 9 in a related discipline.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality services across our 13 Cultural facilities providing direct line management to our Museum curators, arts officer and film officers. Ensuring delivery against our Council Plan objectives and the development and delivery of a new Cultural Partnership for Dumfries and Galloway.

You will act as the Lead Officer for our direct partnerships with DG Unlimited and the D&G Museums and Heritage Network, ensuring delivery against agreed Service Level Agreements, as well as close liaison with our national partners. You will be responsible for a direct revenue budget in excess of £1.8m and a staff team of 48FTE. Experience of staff and financial management is essential and you will be required to liaise with Councillors and respond to regular political interaction.

The role will require strong partnership and negotiation skills with a requirement to mange competing priorities against strict deadlines. Regular communication with national and local cultural partners will be essential in order to deliver against the outcomes of our Cultural Strategy. Experience of project management, particularly focussed around managing change / securing improvement would be advantageous.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
