The closing date of this advert is 14th March 2025.
Do you have a passion and drive for working with young people? Do you want to make a difference? Are you flexible and able to work evenings and weekends if needed?
East Riding’s Children and Young People Support and Safeguarding Services needs relief workers to support vulnerable young people and help make a positive difference in their lives.
The work will be crisis response working with children and young people within their homes at times of crisis, working with them and their family to safely prevent breakdown. The main aim of the work is preventative, to work with children and young people to prevent them entering the care system. This work requires tenacity with a lot of the work occurring outside of office hours – evenings and weekends.
Our Model
‘You can, I can, We can’
We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.
We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families and communities.
Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all of our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.
The role will be varied and include supporting children and young people whilst in crisis to remain safely within their home environment by using effective communication skills, negotiation skills and outside the box thinking.
This role will be pivotal within our CYPSSS system in responding to crisis and preventing our children and young people entering the care system.
We are looking for members of staff who are enthusiastic, dynamic and creative with their approach to working with vulnerable children and young people.
Applications are welcomed from applicants who feel that they have the drive and energy to offer flexible support to these young people.
If you would like to discuss the role further please contact
Sarah Sherwood.
Applicants must have a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle as there will be an expectation for the applicant to transport young people to various locations.
This post requires a DBS criminal record check, however applicants with lived experience are encouraged to apply and any applications will be looked at on an individual basis.
