The Opportunity

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
A fantastic new opportunity has become available for an Electrical Power System Lead role at the Sizewell C project, where you'll be responsible for the electrical distribution assurance, governance and stakeholder assistance. This entails the strategic management and coordination for all electrical power aspects relating to various technical and engineering processes, including technical issue resolution, safety, health, and environmental practices, utility design and construction.
As Electrical Power Lead you will be responsible for the stakeholder management with Electrical stakeholders such as UKPN and National Grid and will lead and oversee the connection to Sizewell B; 132kv connection; 11kV network, support to the utilities diversions and connections as required and the construction and operation of the CES connection.
You'll play a pivotal and vital role in risk mitigation, change management, and maintaining high standards of technical compliance for the power installation hence contributing significantly to the smooth progression, success, and efficiency of the Sizewell C project.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the resolution of Power related and :
Encourage SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) feedback and take a leading role in addressing SHE-related issues.
Develop strong working relationships with other teams.
Foster cooperation and build strong working relationships with Utilities Contractors, Designers, Statutory Undertakers and other Project Stakeholders.
Ensure client satisfaction regarding delivery time, cost, and quality for all power related works and activities.
Ensure effective allocation and monitoring of programme costs, adhering to project financial guidelines.
Identify and manage risks related to delays in regulatory approvals or utility installations.
Implement risk mitigation strategies for potential challenges in project execution.
Manage the complexities of coordinating electrical utility services in alignment with rigorous health and safety, environmental, and sustainability guidelines.
Ensure all utility-related activities adhere to the CDM Regulations (CDM), emphasising the integration of sustainable practices throughout the project's lifecycle.
Manage interdependencies between the electrical utility infrastructure and other site construction phases.
Assess and address the impact of utility management on overall project timelines and deliverables.
The Skills
To be great for this role you'll have proven experience (minimum 10 years) in utilities design/management and/or coordination on large construction projects.
You'll have significant experience in the management of various electrical installations in addition to managing multidisciplinary teams.
Suitable electrical accreditations and knowledge of the industry requirements and specifications and prior experience in major programme/ projects.
You must have in-depth knowledge of the requirements, materials and technical specification required to be achieved for the construction of complex electrical installations.
Utility management in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects with strong leadership and team management skills and excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Desirable:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Hold professional certification in project management e.g., PMP or PRINCE2.
Familiarity with nuclear power plant projects or similar high-compliance environments.
