We have a fantastic opportunity at HMP Rye Hill to join the Novus education team as our Vocational Curriculum Manager on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours a week.
Job description
We are recruiting for a Vocational Curriculum Manager to join our education team at HMP Rye Hill. You will be managing a team of up to 10 Vocational Trainers and be responsible and accountable for the day to day running, management and delivery of curriculum areas within the establishment, including teaching hours. You will be working directly with the Local Education Manager and the prison Governor's representatives.
You will play a key role in providing strategic and operational direction, managing, and coaching the Education team with a focus on driving high quality performance and outcomes. You will bring your experience to the role to inform effective strategies for supporting our learners' complex needs and barriers.
The Prison security team are always on hand to ensure the lessons run safely and smoothly. Time is available during the day to plan the lessons and your Local Education Manager is always on hand to provide support as and when needed. Due to the nature of the establishment, all aspects of the role are carried out onsite - no more spending your evenings and weekends planning
To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Experience of implementing and managing continuous quality assurance and improvement procedures
- Have a history of working effectively with people presenting challenging behaviours.
- Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
- Degree or equivalent (including equivalent life / career experience)
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- TAQA Internal Verifier award / V1 or equivalent desirable but not essential
- Level 4 or equivalent subject specialism or vocational qualification desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge of the awarding bodies

HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding 664 sentenced male adults.
HMP Rye Hill has continued to focus on enhancing its rehabilitative culture. Government inspectors have rated the prison positively for promoting safety, respect, and purposeful activity. Additionally, plans for expanding the prison's capacity from 664 to 1126 inmates are underway, further enhancing its ability to manage its population effectively.
