RWE Supply & Trading's Commercial Asset Management team drives opportunities by connecting Generation, Trading, and Grid Business with Market and Regulatory expertise. Within this environment, our UK Asset and Battery Development teams are dedicated to bringing projects to financial close.

In this environment, the Asset Development UK team is looking for a highly motivated, flexible colleague with commercial drive and strong project development skills for a full range of projects. Such projects include assets such as synchronous condensers providing essential services to Grid, developing the business case and subsequent projects in the firm flexible gas peaker space, leveraging RWE Generation assets through projects to connect with industrial/commercial counterparts.

This is a great opportunity to combine your commercial and technical strengths to help RWE facilitate the energy transition through identifying, developing and realising new value-adding assets.

Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the whole process from Idea Generation ('Scouting') up to Final Investment Decision ('FID'), including all disciplines (Commercial, Conceptual Design, Contractual, Legal, Permitting)
    • You negotiate with external (e.g. customers and internal stakeholders to build the contractual base for a value adding new asset
    • You develop technical tailor-made concepts, liaising with internal and external technical experts
  • As project manager, you are ultimately responsible for bringing your project to FID

Your profile

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of taking ownership of projects and delivering resultsUnderstanding of energy technologies including grid stability solutions such as synchronous condensers and gas peaker plants.
  • Understanding of permitting and regulatory processes for energy projects
  • University degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or alternatively Economics related degree, with experience in a technical environment

Commercial Acumen

  • Proven experience in identifying opportunities, analysing requirements and developing business cases
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with external stakeholders
  • Ability to translate regulatory changes into business opportunities in the UK energy market.

Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop technical and commercial solutions.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to thrive in a team environment and strive for transparency and collaboration with integrity, openness, willingness for change and trust
  • Excellent command of English (negotiating level).
