Project Manager

Bury St, Suffolk, United Kingdom National Trust Full time
Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an interim Project Manager to join our Riverlands Upper Bure project working to restore an internationally rare chalk stream.

Working with key partners you'll deliver a range of projects to support our vision of a river and catchment that is healthy, clean, and rich in wildlife - that is loved and cared for by all. Delivering projects funded in part by National Heritage Lottery Fund Species Survival Bid, and Natural England's Species Recovery Bid you'll be involved in practical restoration of rivers, ponds and farmland and work to connect communities to their local landscape and the work we do.

This project is part funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.

This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months

What it's like to work here

You'll be part of the Trust's internal consultancy: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you'll be working with others to help make things happen.

As this role covers the Easter region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

What you'll be doing

You'll manage the Upper Bure Project through a key phase of delivery. Managing projects including river restoration, pond restoration, farmer engagement, Invasive Non-Native Species control and our nature and people connection programme. The work will be delivered through a range of our internal teams, our partner organisations, and external contracts, so a good knowledge of project delivery is required. You'll line manage and be supported by the Riverlands Senior Project Coordinator.

You will also be responsible for completing the feasibility and design of our next phase of works in 2025 as well as working with our fundraising teams to identify funding future opportunities.
