Early Learning and Childcare (ELC); a career that makes a difference

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain valuable paid work experience, while working towards a recognised qualification in an expanding and rewarding sector?

If you enjoy working with young children and you are passionate about helping them to grow and learn, then you could have what it takes to work in Early Learning and Childcare.

Argyll and Bute Council are looking to recruit two ELC Apprentices within Argyll and Bute. This position will provide an opportunity to learn on the job whilst gaining key transferable skills and a qualification which is essential to work within the sector.

Argyll and Bute Council delivers ELC provision for children aged 2-5 years. As part of this modern apprenticeship you will be based in a Local Authority ELC setting and you will work towards SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.

If you are aged 16 to 24 (or aged if either Care Experienced or Disabled*) have an interest in Early Learning and Childcare, good communication skills, enthusiastic, willing to learn and have 3 National 5 qualifications or equivalent then we want to hear from you.

*Care Experienced - A young person who currently is or was looked after by a local authority, in the family home (with support from social services or a social worker) or elsewhere, for example, in foster care, residential/secure care, or kinship care (with family friends or relatives).
