Part-time, fixed term (1.0 FTE to end June 2025 then 0.4 FTE to end Dec 2025)
The Centre for Dementia Research wish to appoint an experienced researcher to work on two exciting NIHR funded studies in acute hospitals. The VOICE 2 study aims to improve communication with people living with dementia who are hospital in-patients when they become distressed. The dementia friendly outpatients study aims to improve outpatient services and care for people living with dementia. Working alongside Prof Claire Surr and Dr Rachael Kelley, the applicant will be responsible for data collection in Leeds and Huddersfield and contributing to data analysis. This will involve working collaboratively with others involved in the studies including the VOICE 2 Chief Investigator Prof Rowan Harwood and the research team at the University of Nottingham and NHS staff at the participating sites in Leeds and Huddersfield. The post holder will undertake recruitment and consent of participants, undertake ethnographic and structured observational, interview and survey data collection and qualitative data analysis, support intervention implementation and evaluation and contribution to study reporting and dissemination.
The applicant will have experience of conducting research in health/care, ideally in hospital settings with older people or people living with dementia and of using a range of research methods. They will ideally have ethnographic research experience. They will have a PhD or will be close to submission of their thesis.
The post holder will be based within the Centre for Dementia Research. We are an internationally recognised Centre conducting applied research in dementia care. We have a vibrant PhD community and engage with staff from across the university and external partners to deliver a broad range of research programmes.
