Salary: £32,974 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.
Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2025, working 35 hours per week (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)
Location: London (The role will be based at the office base listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week)

We're seeking a skilled communications pro to champion arts & culture in London & the South East.
Arts Council England champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people's lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections.
We are looking for a talented and experienced communications professional to work within the London and South East Advocacy and Communications team.
This role will report to the Head of Advocacy and Communications, London & South East.
Responsibilities
Supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of the Area's communications strategy and will help to deliver the wider organisation's communications strategy, ensuring that the reputation of the organisation is protected at all times.Maintaining and updating Arts Council England's internal and external communications channels with information relating to local activities, and delivering Area announcements, including writing and distributing press releases, creating digital content and stakeholder messages, to advocate for the value of arts and culture to key stakeholders.Assisting with the management, evaluation and assessment of the impact and delivery of online content; media and PR; stakeholder management; and events and briefings, helping to instigate appropriate change in response to that evaluation.Providing day-to-day communications support to the leadership team and other colleagues.Acting as the first point of contact for media enquiries and as a source of knowledge and expertise on Arts Council England's funding portfolio and activity.Assisting in planning and event management of briefings and events held locally.Contributing to social media platforms, creating digital content, and using tools to interact, communicate, inform and empower audiences. Knowledge, skills and experienceTo succeed in this role, you will have proven experience of advising on advocacy and communications issues in a complex environment, responding to and handling media enquiries and drafting press releases, preferably in a similar role.You will have knowledge and understanding of the cultural sector, with specialist knowledge of the current threats and opportunities and an informed awareness of the news agenda.You will have a good understanding of the media, including print, broadcast, online and other emerging new media and how it operates.You will have a good understanding and experience to contributing to several social media platforms, creating engaging digital content, and using tools to interact, communicate, inform and empower audiences.You will be highly organised and capable of working with a high level of attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple priorities and exercise effective judgement when managing conflicting tasks.You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills – speaking, listening and in writing – and the ability to communicate in a confident and engaging manner and able to influence individuals over whom there is no formal line-management relationship. You will have skills and experience in the ability to network, develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.You will have the ability to absorb, analyse and present complex information in a clear and straightforward way and to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
