About us

The Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology is part of UCL's Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PALS). Psychology at UCL was ranked 2nd in the world in the Shanghai University Rankings. This reflects the excellent links between teaching, professional training and research within PALS, the wide range of research expertise represented within PALS and UCL more widely, and the excellent opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary research provided at UCL. The Research Department has a strong record in the development and evaluation of novel psychological interventions based on an understanding of neuroscience, developmental psychology and the mechanisms underpinning mental disorders. It has excellent collaborations with the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology and Psychiatry, and with NHS clinical services.

About the role

The postholder will be expected to have a research track record in the development and evaluation of psychological or related interventions. In particular, the postholder will be expected to have strong knowledge and experience of the application of novel trial design and other methodologies to the evaluation of mental health interventions. The Department has particular strengths in Adult and Children and Young People's Mental Health, Mental Health in Older People, and Neuro-developmental Disorders but applications would be welcome from individuals with expertise in any area of clinical psychology. The recently established, NHS linked University Clinic provides an excellent base for research studies. For clinically qualified applicants the post holder will be expected to take up a 0.2 FTE clinical commitment in the NHS.

About you

The successful candidate will have a PhD, a track record of extensive publications in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals and knowledge and experience of mental health problems. Knowledge and experience of novel methods for the development and evaluation of psychological interventions is essential, as is an active research profile at international level with a track record of external research grant funding. The successful candidate will have evidence of high-quality teaching and presentation skills as well as a commitment to UCL's policy of equal opportunity and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds.
