ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the Principal Investigator (Dr Paul Ansdell) in the delivery of research activity on the project titled "Menstrual-related worsening of Multiple Sclerosis: when and why?", a three-year program of research funded by the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Obtaining ethical approval and maintaining study documentation.
  • Recruiting cohorts of participants for experimental studies.
  • Leading patient involvement activities.
  • Collecting data using questionnaires, functional tests, and neurophysiological techniques.
  • Disseminating findings through conference presentations, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and educational materials.

    The role will suit somebody with a background in either neuroscience, physiology, or a related discipline with a desire to apply their knowledge of female physiology to people with MS.

    This is a fixed term position for 36 months.

    ABOUT THE TEAM

    This project is being delivered within the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation in collaboration with the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The Research Fellow will be part of a research team that includes academics and clinical colleagues from a range of disciplines including physiology, neurology, physiotherapy, and computer sciences.

    ABOUT YOU

    Applicants should hold a Ph.D, or be close to completion, and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge in neuromuscular physiology, multiple sclerosis, or female physiology.
