This position is responsible for the daily management of existing systems & technologies as well as the deployment of new technologies to enhance our capabilities.
The role oversees the technical support, upgrades, projects, and sustainability for broadcast critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing critical infrastructure, preferably within the industry. This position will work to implement and support the division's goals, objectives, and technology initiatives at the station level.Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily management of team operations such as scheduling, performance reviews, and timecard approval.
- Manage technical solutions across all broadcast systems including both SDI and NDI IP video infrastructures, encode / decode platforms, live production systems, news gathering tools, editorial tools, asset management, distribution and transmission systems.
- Assist in the development, implementation and accountability to standards, controls and processes that ensure a high degree of availability and reliability across all technical systems and operations.
- Manage the implementation, commissioning, documentation, SOP's, and operational handoff of new technology.
- Partner with vendors and internal service providers to best serve the needs of the station and troubleshoot issues
- Facilities management at our Studio and Transmitter site
- Mange the maintenance and back-up testing of our Over-the -Air technology, ensuring maximum uptime.
- Assist in FCC and EHS compliance responsibilities.
- Responsible for the management of the Newsgathering vehicle fleet.
- Other duties as deemed necessary.
Required:
Position will be on call 24/7/365 and may be required onsite with little to no notice in the event of an emergent situation.
Qualifications3-5 years relevant experience in Data EngineeringExperience of near Real Time & Batch Data Pipeline development in a similar Big Data Engineering role.
Programming skills with an OOP language (e.g., Java, C++)Proficient with SQLExperience working in a cloud environment such as Google Cloud Platform or AWSHands on programming experience of the following (or similar) technologies:
Kubernetes, DockerApache Beam, Apache Flink, Apache SparkGoogle BigQuery, SnowflakeGoogle BigTableGoogle Pub/Sub, KafkaApache AirflowExperience implementing observability around data pipelines using SRE best practices.
Experience in processing structured and unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis and reporting with integration with a variety of data metric providers ranging from advertising, web analytics, and consumer devices.
Bachelors' degree with a specialization in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, other quantitative field or equivalent industry experience.Desired CharacteristicsStrong Test-Driven Development background, with understanding of levels of testing required to continuously deliver value to production.
