POST TITLE: ATTENDANCE OFFICER
POST LEVEL/GRADE: Band E (Based on 39 weeks per year, 20 hours per week)
Broad Description of post
Reporting to the Headteacher and SLT, and in liaison with teaching staff, the post will provide a
complementary service to teachers, addressing the needs of children and families who need help
to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside school in order to achieve their full
potential and enable school to raise standards of achievement and improve attendance.
Working under the direction of the Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher
for Behaviour and Inclusion to support better attendance outcomes for children aged 3 to 11 and
their families.
Working within and facilitating the work of the school's inclusion team to:
Monitor attendance across the school.
plan, deliver and monitor interventions and activities as part of the school's attendance offer,
ensuring that interventions are targeted at those families and children with the greatest
needs within the local community.
Providing first line of support to parents/carers providing a strategic link between home and
other agencies and parents.
Providing attendance, behavioural and educational support to identified pupils.
Providing a strong interface role with school's inclusion team in delivering sustainable support
strategies for improving attendance, including empowering families to thrive and succeed.
The post will manage and direct support for a case-load of pupils and families.
Responsibility for people: [other than employees supervised/managed]
The post has considerable impact on the well-being of individuals or groups [i.e. physical, mental,
social and health and safety] through assessment of need and support.
Responsibility for staff: The post has some responsibility for others, through advising, guiding
and directing and co-ordinating the actions of others.
Responsibility for budget: The post has no direct responsibility for financial resources other
than occasionally handling small amounts of cash, processing cheques, invoices etc.
Responsibility for physical resources: The post has some direct responsibility for physical
resources, involving keeping accurate and confidential records
