The project:
Be a part of our Consultancy business that spans our five global hubs, where we oversee work for world leading organisations across the public and private sectors. We are currently recruiting for a talented and motivated Commercial Manager to join our Cost & Commercial Management business unit, supporting on a variety of rail infrastructure projects and frameworks.

As a Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the management of commercial aspects of the business area including supporting pre-contract and operations, managing commercial risk and opportunity, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and that all commercial reporting procedures are adhered to. Supporting the delivery of projects providing pre award, procurement and post award contract administration support, monitoring compliance with contract obligations and driving value from the supply chain. Provision of a "cradle to grave" commercial function for all work packages making up the commission.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Reporting to Commercial Manager.
  • Responsible for some junior grades of staff, consultants and support staff.
  • Managing an accurate pipeline of enhancements and renewals projects.
  • Managing estimating activities, including working with the central Surface estimating team to support development of estimates through governance and providing input/ assurance.
  • Supporting development of procurement activities including strategies, tender process and governance.
  • Experience of delivering framework strategies and call-off contracts.
  • Supporting cost management and periodic reporting across a portfolio of projects, communicating issues effectively to senior management.
  • Proactively managing contract administration across a portfolio of projects, will include some dispute resolution and contractor engagement at a project level.
  • Writing governance papers and supporting passage of papers through the governance process.
  • Building close working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Escalating issues appropriately and proactively.
  • NEC3 and NEC4 experience.
  • Must have relevant work experience in rail industry programmes.
  • The ability to demonstrate involvement in delivering projects of high value complexity.
  • Transport experience and technical skills appropriate to the discipline.
  • Must have post contract experience, ideally within a client organisation.

You'll need to have:

  • Proven experience working in the rail sector - We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience working on TfL projects.
  • Understanding of value management and programme development and monitoring, ensuring delivery against key milestone targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in creating and maintaining relationships, able to converse to clients and peers to director level.

You'll also have:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred (or other commercially related discipline).
  • Professional Memberships are an advantage but not essential.
