Job Description SummaryThe objective of the Material Controller is to maintain uninterrupted flow of work through our shop, in order to meet the production plan which contributes to improved turn around times and customer on time delivery. You will be required to facilitate resolution to any material issues which would prevent the plan being met and problem solve with different departments (Operation / Materials / Customer Operations). This must be completed within a compliant environment and maintaining the integrity of the Business System.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities
  • Attend daily Materials/ Planning Stand-up meeting to review material position, kitting priority & raise any concerns that require escalation.
  • Optimise production flow through our machine shop, paint shop, hand salvage, treatment cell and to and from sub con. Progress any documentation required for materials.
  • Marshalling of material between cells (if necessary, between sites).
  • Responsible for identifying process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, reduce manufacturing losses and develop world class material presentation.
  • Material kitting & presentation to the shop floor in line with production plan.
  • Work closely with Operations team to prepare kits.
  • Work closely with Operations & Production Controllers to understand kitting priorities in line with standard work in progress (SWIP).
  • Responsible for picks from field service stock, finished float stock in line with customer ship dates to ensure on time delivery (OTD).
  • Maintaining accuracy and validation of stock in our ERP system and other manual trackers and maintain traceability records for manufactured parts. Effectively control/maintain/implement Kanban/pull systems.
  • Application of problem-solving skills & can work with cross function teams.
  • Be able to be flexible across multiple product lines and other materials departments such as Stores and Despatch depending on team workload, holidays, or illness.
Qualifications/ Skill Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Knowledge and experience of Oracle ERP or another ERP system
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Prior experience in material control preferable
