We are part of the Wildern Academy Trust which comprises of Wildern School, Deer Park Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School.

Benefits of working within MFL:

The department is proud to offer French, German and Spanish upon entry in year 7 and through to GCSE. There is the opportunity to begin a second language from scratch in year 9 as part of the GCSE pathways process.The MFL department is an innovative, outward looking team. Our scheme of work is evidence-led, drawing on a range of sources, including EPI and recent work from NCELP. Students routinely use Sentence Builders to support their learning.There is a fully resourced 5-year SOW for all three languages and the team works together to collaboratively plan challenging lessons in which all students can make excellent progress and feel successful in language learning. EdTech is central to MFL, with all self-study online and regular opportunities to use Chromebooks in lessons. There are interactive Clevertouch screens in every classroom.Memrise, and other online resources used to support out of class learning.There is an opportunity to drive improvement and development of the MFL curriculum, working with the MFL team to secure the best outcomes for our students.MFL is recognised as an important subject and the school strongly encourages all students to continue learning a language to GCSE. The MFL department has a number of international links and regular trips abroad, including an Exchange with a school near Stuttgart that has been running for over 35 years.
