Pastoral Manager

Responsibilities:
- To support with managing behaviour, standards, attendance and punctuality communicating with students and parents/carers including home visits, in collaboration with the Deputy Head with overall responsibility for attendance
- To ensure positive standards and behaviour as outlined in the Academy's Behaviour Policy
- To provide support for students and staff by developing strategies to overcome barriers to learning
- To provide initial support for behaviour concerns using available strategies
- To provide daily support at the gate in the mornings and evenings.
- To provide support at lunchtimes as required
- To collate and file student statements, reports and related documentation provided by the Heads of Year and Key Stage Deputies and store securely
- To become familiar with all students especially those who have specific needs at risk and monitor progress
- To work with existing school support frameworks and make referrals to outside agencies
- To implement school policy on procedures and sanctions relating to discipline
- Through the Senior Deputy as directed to keep parents/carers informed of both sanctions and rewards and maintain a communication link under the direction of senior leaders
- To participate in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above
- To participate in arrangements for further training and professional development
- To direct and liaise with the Pastoral Assistants as required
- To work with members of staff to develop a consistent approach to school policy
- To represent the Academy in a manner consistent with its ethos and values
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection and all aspects of safeguarding children
- To maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour and to uphold the Nolan Principles
- To support the supervision of students placed in the Pastoral Office
- To support on-call dealing with students removed from session, ensuring standards during unstructured time.
- To carry out other reasonable tasks from time to time as directed by the Headteacher.
School Term Time Role
Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday 8.15am-5.00pm and Friday 8.15am-3.45pm
200 days worked per year (190 term time days, plus 5 term time PD Days, plus 5 additional days in negotiation with the Line Manager)
