We have a fantastic opportunity at HMP Rye Hill to join the Novus education team as our Construction Multi-Skilled Trainer on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours a week.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Trainer (Training experience an advantage but not essential) to join our education team at HMP Rye Hill.

You will work with, and be supported by, our amazing team of dedicated professionals to deliver high-quality Entry-Level Construction lessons to groups of up to 16 learners to develop their vocational skills. This role requires a strong background in either of the following Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating or Electrical. You will need patience, passion and understanding in your approach which will in turn help them to secure future employment opportunities post-release.

Our security team are on hand to ensure the lessons run smoothly. We always try to cater to a learner's individual needs and ensure we create a positive learner experience. Time will be given to planning and your Local Education Manager is always on hand to provide support as and when needed. Delivery happens between Monday and Friday and weekends and evenings are strictly for rest and relaxation.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • A teaching qualification OR subject specialist qualification.
  • Have at least 2 years' experience in the relevant vocational area
  • Willing to gain PTLLS within 6 months.
  • Commitment to gain a subject specific qualification to allow you to train to Level 3, within 2 years.
  • Commitment to gain an assessor award required by relevant Awarding Bodies, within one year.
  • Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE) or be willing to commit to gaining the qualification(s) within 1 year.
  • Gain, hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding 664 sentenced male adults.

HMP Rye Hill has continued to focus on enhancing its rehabilitative culture. Government inspectors have rated the prison positively for promoting safety, respect, and purposeful activity. Additionally, plans for expanding the prison's capacity from 664 to 1126 inmates are underway, further enhancing its ability to manage its population effectively.
