The role: We are currently looking for a Compliance Engineer to plan, develop, and implement our company's technical compliance capabilities to make sure our business is following the required legal compliance frameworks.

This is a technical role providing subject matter expert support to design teams throughout the development lifecycle. The Compliance Engineer will help to define compliance requirements, develop certification plans, provide design support and commission, support or carry out certification testing across mechanical design & naval architecture, electrical and electronic design and software engineering.

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the company's technical compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conducting tests and studies into the company's product compliance.
  • Producing reports on compliance testing, developments, and processes.
  • Instituting best-practice procedures for compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Developing strategies and implementation plans for compliance-related matters.
  • Explaining and defining compliance protocols and measures to stakeholders and relevant authorities.
  • Interact with outside test laboratories and regulatory agencies as required to obtain testing services, product approvals and interpretations of regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance to design teams on how to comply with specific regulations.
  • Managing complaints and technical issues relating to product design and manufacturing.
  • Checking the status of various business operations to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Stay current with applicable standards, skills and trends in regulatory compliance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar.
  • Proficiency in report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with product testing and process analysis.
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.
  • A natural problem-solver.
  • Attention to detail.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • Understanding of CE & UK CA marking process.
  • Awareness of EMC/EMI compliance design and testing.
  • Awareness of marine regulatory standards e.g., MCA WBC.
