The Role:

In Cornwall we put the needs of the children right at the heart of everything we do – and that takes professionals who share our enthusiasm to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

Family Workers work as part of multi-disciplinary team where children, young people and their families need co-ordinated support at times of increased need and difficulty. We take a relational and strengths-based approach

In Cornwall we have a proven track record of building on family strengths and drawing on the support of the wider family. This has been achieved in the context of Cornwall being the second most deprived area of Northern Europe

Family Workers carry out assessments with children and families (-9months to 18 years ) devise plans of intervention, and undertake direct work .To do this you will be trained to utilise a range of evidence-based approaches including Signs of Safety, & Motivational Interviewing and Family Workers will deliver accredited Parenting Programmes. We have a good training programme and excellent career progression.

What you'll need to succeed:

You must hold a relevant level three professional qualification related to supporting children and families e.g. Education, Health and Social Care and have experience of delivering services for children and their families.

The role requires travel across the area, including rural areas that may not have public transport links, so you will need to hold a full driver's licence and have access to a vehicle.

You will need to be able to evidence experience of working with children and their families, knowledge of child development along with a robust understanding of the challenges they may face.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check
