PCTU Clinical Trials Manager

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Queen Mary University of London Full time

About the Role

The post holder's primary role will be to coordinate and manage the AttackMS trial (Natalizumab for the treatment of people with inflammatory demyelination suggestive of multiple sclerosis, or definite multiple sclerosis, at first presentation) in collaboration with the lead research team based at the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery & Trauma and the Trial management Group at the PCTU, both based at Queen Mary, University of London. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and degenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS) affecting >120,000 people in the UK. This trial aims to assess if hyper-acute treatment with natalizumab, 300mg i.v., every four weeks, is effective in facilitating remyelination in people with a first manifestation event of demyelination. AttackMS is a multi-centre, randomised control clinical trial of an Investigational Medicinal Product (CTIMP), which will take place within NHS settings.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London and is a fixed term appointment for 27 months. Due to the requirements of the role, successful candidates should be available to start by the end of September, if not earlier.

About You

This post represents an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to develop their trial management skills in a multi-site trial of an intervention working with a multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will work in the Centre for Evaluation and Methods (CEM), incorporating collaborative units working to deliver outstanding research based on their combined and complementary strengths. Previous research experience in multi-site Clinical Trials of an Investigational Medicinal Product (CTIMPs) involving NHS patients or research participants is essential.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Centre for Evaluation and Methods (CEM) specialises in evaluating the clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and implementation of healthcare innovations, and methodology to support these evaluations. Our multidisciplinary researchers and educators work to improve the health of patients and the public. Our vision is to improve evidence and methods for a healthier, better world. The postholder will contribute to the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU), one of four clinical trials units within the centre.
