Mary Hare is a charity and a company limited by guarantee dedicated to promoting and providing education for children and young adults with hearing and related disabilities. The organisation operates a Secondary School, a Primary School, and a Training Services division, which trains teachers of the deaf and audiologists. Its commercial activities include providing school facilities for an international Summer School, weddings, and the Arlington Arts Centre for commercial theatre, conferences, and other events.​

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and professional School Nurse to join our team. This role is crucial in providing both nursing and pastoral care, ensuring the well-being and health of our students at both the Senior and Primary levels.​

General:

Mary Hare educates 200 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire and we pride ourselves on our pupils' achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where we can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

​Conducted nurse-led daily surgeries and coordinated weekly doctor's surgeries​Provide nursing and first aid care to all pupils.​Collaborate closely with the school GP and liaise with external health professionals.​Develop and maintain good working relationships with parents and guardians​Supervise immunisation clinics in collaboration with the community nursing team.​Accompanied pupils to medical appointments and facilitated additional medical investigations as required.​Provide specialised ear care for all pupils where necessary.​Offer on-call support out of hours from home as required.
