About Us

Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane opened in September 2012. We are sponsored by Lord Harris of Peckham and enjoy the benefits of being part of a high achieving Federation. All of our academies have been graded as 'Good' or 'Outstanding' from Ofsted.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Have regard to the curriculum for the school, and with a view to promoting the development of the abilities and aptitudes of the pupils in any class or group assignedPlan and prepare courses and lessonsTeach, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to youSet and mark work to be carried out by the pupil in the Academy and elsewhereAssess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupilsDisseminate high quality teaching pedagogy and practice to secure consistently good or outstanding teaching and learning for our childrenBe committed to on-going professional developmentContribute to the wider life of the academyMaintain a dynamic and inspiring learning environmentBe innovative, highly motivated and eagerHave good interpersonal skills and are able to work well as part of a teamQualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degreeSuccessful experience of teaching the primary curriculumGood understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress of children of primary ageGood subject knowledge of core National CurriculumGood understanding of child development and progression and how this impacts on planningUnderstanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school's policyAn understanding of equal opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schoolsExcellent written and oral communication skillsNext Steps
