We're looking for a Fire Safety Officer to oversee the ongoing identification, monitoring and improvement of fire, health, safety and environment issues to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, customers, suppliers, third party contractors and visitors to all locations including (but not limited to), offices, airports, hangar facilities, retail stores and hotels - both in the UK and overseas. This will be achieved with the adoption of industry best practice and ensuring business compliance and oversight.
Day to day
Some of your key responsibilities as our Fire Safety Officer will be:
- To plan and carry out regular fire and health and safety audits (including site inspections) at all locations.
- To develop and maintain a Fire Safety Manual and manage the coordination of audits as required.
- Carry out fire risk assessments and recommend how legislative requirements are met and risks can be reduced.
- Providing advice and support to other stakeholders on fire related matters such as FRA, PEEPs etc.
- Providing training to staff and contractors including fire warden training and fire safety.
- Investigate fire incidents, report findings and recommendations
- Investigate all HSE related incidents, accidents, illnesses, or near-misses to ensure issues are addressed to prevent re-occurrence and provide due diligence defence.
- Monitor all associated HSE metrics, identify trends and implement remedial actions.
- Record all findings, incidents and accidents into relevant Safety System (SMS or PASS).
About you
In addition to the above, we are looking for our successful candidate to demonstrate the following:
- A formal, recognized Fire Risk Assessment qualification
- A Fire Safety Qualification and appropriate membership (e.g. MiFireE/ IFE/ FPA)
- H&S Degree or advanced level Health and Safety qualifications from accredited governing body (e.g. NEBOSH)
- H&S Degree or advanced level Food Hygiene qualification from accredited governing body (e.g. RSPH) (desirable)
- Training qualification and experience in the creation, development and delivery of training across a variety of scenarios (e.g. classroom, coaching etc.)
- Experience in development and implementation of fire safety strategies, fire management plans and fire risk assessments
- Experience of working in an airline environment and/or a tour operator (preferred)
- Knowledge of: Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation including The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Regulations Approved Document B
- Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
