Job Title: Chief of Staff (Part Time Nominally 3 days per week)

Working For: Adam J Dance MP (Yeovil)

Salary: In line with IPSA Rates (according to experience)

Length of Contract: Permanent

Duties include:

  1. Collate all required information from team members to present to the MP.
  2. Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain the security system, liaise with external bodies as appropriate.
  3. Ensure the office is fully equipped.
  4. Exposure and management of complex cases.
  5. Have final signoff on all relevant delegated areas from the MP, for example, constituent correspondence.
  6. Identify training opportunities and ensure the office team maintain and develop knowledge of relevant legislation where appropriate.
  7. Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MP's office.
  8. Liaise with groups/personnel including at Westminster, within the constituency, and the general public on the MP's behalf as necessary.
  9. Manage the office team, ensuring accurate personnel records are kept and notifying IPSA of contractual changes as necessary.
  10. Overall management of the Member's diary commitments, delegating tasks to others as appropriate.
  11. Responsibility for managing all aspects of the budget, keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters and liaising with IPSA on office finance.
  12. Support and manage the recruitment of staff for the MP's office.
  13. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours, including attending events with the MP as required.

Upon appointment, you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members' Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
