Are you a ACA/CIMA or ACCA qualified accountant looking for an opportunity to work for a global and growing manufacturing business? Are you looking for a varied role where no day will be the same and you will gain international experience across the UK, Spain and the Netherlands? This is a great opportunity to manage a small, tight knit team of 4 Accounts Assistants, overseeing all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, payroll, preparing the monthly and year end reporting packs, ensuring financial compliance and controls and also working on continuous improvement projects.

Germains Seed Technology is an ABF (Associated British Foods plc) company with a global footprint. Germains' mission is to 'maximise nature's potential' by using its seed technology processing know-how and deep expertise to unlock the genetic potential of seeds for food production.

Reporting to the Group Head of Finance, this role will oversee all the transactional financial activities for all our sites in Europe. The activities are managed within one team with employees working from our site in the UK as well as in the Netherlands. The Finance Manager will work closely together with other colleagues from the central finance team and with the Finance Business Partner, building excellent relationships with a varied mix of stakeholders across the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing and overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuringprompt payment to suppliers,prompt receipt of income from customers and credit card admin, with the right controls and efficiencies in place ensuring each team meets expectations for month end close processes.
  • Overseeing the intercompany balances and expense processing, ensuring the right controls are in place and each account balanced at month end.
  • Managing the Banking, Payments and Tax processes, includingPayment approvals and controls,Daily Bank reconciliations, VAT checking and submitting returns.
  • Ensuring Fixed Asset admin, Stock administration andFCFQ submissions are submitted and meet expected controls and Stock reconciliation support is provided by the team.
  • Preparing the Statutory and Sales reporting and Year end packs to deadline, with risks raised and supporting the EU FBP with commercial insight information required.
  • Dealing with all Period End balance sheet reconciliations and posting journals as needed for Claims, Rebates and Sales accruals when required.
  • Manage a team of 4 account assistants based in the UK and in the Netherlands. Setting SMART objectives, managing performance and making sure there is a shared accountability to achieve within the team. Creates a learning environment and enables personal growth for people within the team.
  • Support internal and external audits in the UK and the Netherlands, ensuring files requested are provided in a timely manner and reviewed for completion.
  • Manage financial controls and payroll, ensuring financial control checks are carried out accurately on payment runs before authorisation. Analysing, recommending and implementing changes to the ERP and financial system to further support the requirements of the finance department.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance department to improve efficiency, demonstrate controls and provide cost savings.

What you'll bring:

  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified
  • Good working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Previous experience of regular financial and statutory reporting.
  • Proven Financial controls experience within a large, corporate environment with awareness of what a robust and effective financial controls framework should look like.
  • Proven people management experience with the ability to motivate and develop your team effectively.
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence and build relationships
  • Highly competent in using Excel and other Microsoft and ERP packages.
  • Previous international finance exposure would be ideal but is not essential for the role.
