Interim Head of Service and Chief Social Work Officer
Annual Salary: £91,688
A temporary opportunity has arisen to join our management team as Interim Head of Service and Chief Social Work Officer for a period of approximately 6 months while the recruitment and selection for a permanent appointment is undertaken. Given the temporary and short-term nature of the post, it is important that the successful candidate is able to commence employment at the soonest opportunity and no later than 4 weeks from the date of interview.
We are an ambitious authority, embracing new challenges and encouraging innovation and our Interim Head of Service & Chief Social Work Officer needs to be able to thrive and inspire in that environment. This is a challenging opportunity to contribute towards shaping the future direction of the council, to improve and modernise services for people living in Moray and put their needs at the heart of responsive service delivery.

Our Heads of Service must be resilient and highly motivated with drive, enthusiasm and creativity to bring clear strategic insight and direction to this demanding role. You need to be an innovative thinker, focused on effective outcomes and capable of delivering tangible results through effective people, resource and financial management with a continuous drive for improving standards whilst achieving best value.
As Interim Head of Service, you will lead your services to champion the vision, values and wider objectives of Moray Council and Health and Social Care Moray in order to deliver the key strategic aims of the organisation making Moray an even better place to live.
This includes:
Developing service strategies and operational management policies, procedures and protocols relating to services in Moray covering adults and children.
As a member of the senior leadership team, provide leadership, vision, professional advice and strategic direction on the full range of services within your portfolio.
Undertake the role and responsibilities of Chief Social Work Officer in terms of Section 3 of the Social Work Scotland Act 1968, accountable to the Chief Executive of Moray Council all in accordance with the relevant guidance
