As part of the growth of the School, we are seeking to appoint a Director of Fitness to join our highly effective team. Thomas Telford School has always been at the forefront of educational developments nationally, by pioneering radical ways of organising and delivering education since its opening in 1991.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Physical Education Department, the post would suit a person with a Sports Science Degree complemented with appropriate Fitness Instructor Qualifications and experience of working in a fitness setting. The sports facilities at the School are exceptional and include a fully equipped fitness and conditioning suite. The suite can comfortably accommodate 60 to 70 users. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the facility and will teach groups of students throughout the 11-18 age range who are timetabled for fitness courses throughout the School year. There is also extensive use of the facility after the normal school day where students can choose to attend. Mywellness software is used in the facility, and there is opportunity to work with elite sports performers who in some cases compete at international level. The School places a strong emphasis on sport and has an enviable record of sporting success. For example, the School has reached over 60 National Football Finals since 2002 and currently has over 12 students who represent their country of birth.

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Director of Physical Education and will work alongside PE staff to utilise the fitness suite to help prepare students for high level competition, and enthuse all students in leading healthy and active lifestyles. You will be expected to deliver lessons to students across the key stages, ensuring effective induction for all involved. Alongside members of the Physical Education Department, you will play a key role in the strategic planning of appropriate fitness programmes for all staff and students in the School.
