Are you an experienced family support practitioner with a passion for working with children and families with a range of challenges? Do you have knowledge of working with Children with disabilities? Do you understand the challenges families experience and have a creative approach to solving them? If so, you might be the person we are looking for.

Your New Role:

You will engage with families and young people to assess need holistically and work with them to develop sustainable solutions that improve their functioning and achieve better outcomes for their children. You will complete early help assessments, provide direct work with individuals, families, and groups on a range of issues, and support families to understand how their child's disability can be supported within the home and community. You will work with families, empowering them to find their own solutions, and promote the involvement of young people in planning, delivery, and evaluation of services.

What you'll need to succeed:

You have a nationally recognised qualification such as NVQ level 4 or other higher-level qualification or equivalent experience and can demonstrate high quality delivery of family support work. You have up-to-date working knowledge of safeguarding children and young people and can complete risk assessments. You have experience of working with children, young people, and families, and have a positive attitude to helping young people. You are flexible, focused on good outcomes, and have excellent communication skills. You can change priorities to meet tight deadlines, can reflect and learn, and you understand multi-agency working. You can facilitate small group activities, keep records, use IT competently, and travel easily across Portsmouth.
