The project: A data centre that will be five storeys high. The steel frame will have over 18,000 pieces of steel and the data centre cooling will be delivered by 160 roof mounted fluid coolers. The system has a ring main boasting 1m diameter pipework that will take eight days to fill. The project also includes building an administration building and a substation supplying 264KV via a diverse array of four 66KV supplies. There are 14 different envelope types on the project which aims to deliver a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Collaborates with the planning function on allocated project and contributes, as required. Verifies projects/ tenders to ensure alignment to define planning processes; ensure projects/ tenders are appropriately planned, scheduled and monitored. Supports Project Management function in the delivery of the project, as required, ensuring they are delivered on time and profitably. Responsible for the planning of medium complexity projects, a portfolio of smaller projects or sections of larger projects.

  • You will support the Planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
  • Develops detailed plans taking full cognisance of logistics/site/project constraints
  • Interfaces with Project Team, contributing to the production of the weekly progress report to the project team and understand functional obligations under form of contract.
  • Reviews and captures productivity to measure progress.
  • Communicates effectively with the client , project team and stakeholders.
  • Incorporates sustainable design and procurement process within integrated programmes.
  • Ensures health and safety through programme integration.
  • Establishes and oversees project work plan and deadlines.
  • Undertakes tasks required to full fill the requirements of the project/assignment.
  • Responsible for coordinating activities for team.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:
  • Exposure working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large-scale construction projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client-side
  • A construction-related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Experience working on large projects/programmes.
  • A construction or project management background.
  • Working on a large portfolio of projects.
  • Mentoring and upskilling of inexperienced planners.
  • Implementation of planning principles within the project management community.
  • Working with a large range of stakeholders.
  • Planning of complicated infrastructure projects and summarisation of these into portfolio-level schedules.
  • Experienced P6 user (P6 pro).
  • Experience with ASTA Power Project preferred
  • Familiarisation with P6 EPPM (Web) - for configuration management - see below.
  • Management of large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation.
  • Knowledge of baseline control and configuration.
  • Experience in scheduling import and export.
  • Competency to produce programmes and sequence plans with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate software user
  • Ability to provide schedule outputs in a various formats to suit the audience/context.
  • Established experience in built environment and with projects.
  • Understands different procurement routes and types and forms of contract.
  • Basic understanding of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) stages.
  • Able to respond to all client/stakeholder requests effectively and sensitively.
  • Communicate & present to project team on programme drivers, goals & issues, etc.
  • Listens effectively and probes for new and diverse ideas.
  • Working towards professional qualification (e.g. CIOB, APM, PMI).
  • Other relevant qualifications specific to local requirements.
  • Construction related Degree level qualification.

You'll also have:
  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful planning of projects and programmes in the Construction sector.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on
  • Understanding of contract administration.
  • Exposure to the principles or use of different types of contracts.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Ability to challenge constructively.
  • Management skills.
  • Relevant degree in the built environment, business/management studies, etc.., or NVQ level 3.
