Our Purpose

The Payroll Team is essential to the smooth delivery of not only our inhouse payroll delivery, but our external partners too. The team provide a critical service whilst also ensuring that our systems and processes are regularly updated and reviewed to enable efficient functionality.

Your Role

As the organisation's Payroll Specialist, you will provide a pivotal role within the payroll and pensions team. You will oversee and undertake payroll and pensions processes, ensuring the timely payment of BACs, statutory reporting and financial reconciliation for the organisation and our key partners.

As the Specialist within the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of pension schemes, interpreting, applying and advising on regulations, ensuring systems and processes are maintained in line with payroll and pensions legislation.

You will also lead in the co-ordination and production of pay and pensions related statutory returns whilst leading and contributing to improvement projects related to payroll and pensions and be responsible for the delivery of training on subject matters relating to other areas within the People & Governance workforce.

About You

With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will be an expert within the payroll and pensions field, with a proven track record of delivering service improvements.

You will possess excellent people skills and have a proven track record of building effective relationships and delivering excellent customer service.

With a drive to ensure the delivery of high-quality professional services, you will be adept at promoting an understanding of technical matters with audiences at a variety of levels.

Although not essential, experience of procedures specific to iTrent and local government would be advantageous.

Start date: In line with our Day One: NEL Induction Process', the earliest start date for our successful colleague would be 7th October, 2024.

This role is a blended working role (the duties of the role may require a blend of home & office working in line with needs of the service)
