About the Role
Applications are sought for an enthusiastic Research Technician to join Prof Gerlinger's Translational Cancer Immunotherapy and Genomics Team at Bart's Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The individual will be responsible for the processing and biobanking of clinical samples, including tumour biopsies and blood samples, and for the culture of patient-derived organoids and immune cells. The technician will furthermore assist with the development of immunological assays to identify immune cell target-antigens and mechanisms regulating immune cell activity. Contribution to lab and tissue culture management is also expected. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of cancer physicians, biologists, and bioinformaticians and trial coordinators, with duties predominantly at the Bart's Cancer Institute but also at hospitals within Bart's Health NHS Trust where samples are collected.

About You
The candidate must have prior experience in human tissue culture. Experience of organoid/3D cell and/or T cell culture is highly desirable. Experience of DNA/RNA extraction and quantification is also required. Training in the principles of Good Clinical Practice, the Human Tissue Act and applicable human sample management and trial guidelines will be provided. Good organisation, record keeping and communication skills are essential. The candidate will have an MSc or BSc degree in biology or a related relevant subject.
