We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Principal / Lead Civil Engineer to join our client, a market leader in the water industry, for a role covering the Anglian Water region. This position will lead engineering efforts within the Anglian Water framework, ensuring the successful delivery of construction and infrastructure projects.

As a pivotal figure in the engineering team, you will be responsible for driving engineering excellence and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing engineering teams, including direct employees and subcontractors, to ensure exceptional technical standards
  • Implementing engineering processes and methodologies throughout all project phases, from design to final handover
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with project teams, clients, and other key stakeholders
  • Ensuring adequate engineering resources and clearly defining individual responsibilities
  • Overseeing day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring all activities align with the Project Execution Plan
  • Preparing and approving detailed engineering plans and method statements prior to project commencement
  • Managing the timely resolution of technical issues, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Monitoring project engineering performance, making adjustments as necessary to meet project goals

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects, preferably within the water industry
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering processes and methodologies
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
  • Familiarity with Construction Contracts, particularly NEC and/or IChemE
  • Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety regulations
  • Previous experience in water and wastewater treatment plants (an advantage)
